The Red Macaw is and endangered species in Costa Rica. It was completely extinct in certain areas of the country due to huge habitat loss, cattle pasture, slash and burn, etc. I had the pleasure of helping the volunteers in Tiskita Jungle Lodge with the scarlet macaw reintroduction program. I learned a lot about this majestic bird and of nature itself. It will never cease to amaze me.
